803 Challenge Entries Received for The Christmas Challenges

Fabulous Participation in the Challenge! Check out the photo galleries!

Knot Just Yarn Blog

Since November 15th, 2013 to New Years Eve, December 31st, 2013 we have been running our Final Crochet Challenge of 2013.

Truthfully speaking, Cathy and I had a hard time narrowing down what the final project should be. Instead of coming up with just one idea, we decided to open up the competition to be 11 different projects that were featured in the 12 Gifts of Christmas Mini Series.

We had strong doubts that people would be able to get an afghan done before our deadline but we decided to throw one in just in case we were wrong. OH BOY… were we ever wrong.

Here is your breakdowns for Entries. You can view them all on our Photo Galleries as well.

In no particular order, here are how many entries were received.

  • 30 Pairs of Boot Cuffs.
  • 97 Snowflake Afghans. Each afghan awarded 3 entries as per our challenge.

Inspired by Taylor, Free Beret/Tam Pattern

I love this new design from Kathy! Check it out! It is a fabulous Free Crochet Pattern!

ELK Studio - Handcrafted Crochet Designs

I wanted to thank everyone for hanging out with me this year by wrapping it up with another free pattern.  I’ve posted pictures of my friend Taylor and her daughter wearing matching hats on my ELK Studio Facebook page, and it’s been a big hit.  Taylor and I (along with some other friends) took a trip this past April to a women’s convention in Boston.  Taylor found a cute knitted hat but instead of buying it, she asked if I could make her one for this upcoming winter.

I really appreciate my friends having enough confidence in me to come up with my design and pattern without any restrictions.  The only thing she wanted was a bow which wasn’t a problem.  Here is a picture of my beautiful friend, Taylor.

As I always try to do, I worked this hat up using different yarns.  I had never tried Bernat…

‘Twas the Night Before Christmas – the Crochet Version!

Pattern Paradise

Fireplace-with-stockingsWith some of my favorite designers, projects and sites in mind, here is my crochet version of the classic poem.  I hope it makes you smile!  ~Maria~

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a Love Handle Crochet Hook was hooking, not even this mouse.
The Perfectly Plaid Stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of Candy Cane Hats danced in their heads.
And mama in her Offshore Beanie, and I in my Paisley Cap, Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from under the Granny Stripes Blanket to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the…

Free Basketweave Boot Cuff Pattern!

I really love this design from Kathy 🙂 SO pretty! Rhondda

Free Basketweave Boot Cuff Pattern!.

I love my Teddy!

This is adorable and there is an English Translation (as well as the German) “Pattern For Teddy” just above the “Share this” bar is the English link 🙂

…von all den schönen und gefühlvollen Zeugnissen menschlicher Liebe, Phantasie und Geschick habe ich den Teddybären am liebsten. L. Mullins (Professor of Psychology)

ofall the beautifulandemotionalthings of love, imagination and skill, the teddy bear is my favorite.

Silly little Angel!

You are going to love this one!!

Hope you all remember little angry Angel I posted photo of few weeks ago. Dear Debi B. asked to try the pattern out. And am glad she has helped me with it. Thank you Debi!

I came out with an Angel pattern after Bonnie B. asked me to create and Angel she could make and donate to cancer ill patients in local hospital, to cheer them up and brighten their day.

That is how silly little attitude Angel came to life.

Here is a photo of two of them. Angels-AmigurumiBB

Wing pattern is not mine. Found it long time ago and used it here. If one knows the original designer and owner of the wing pattern, let me know so can give her deserved credit.

Think I better get on with pattern, as I have one (two) more patterns to share today.

Angel is made in No.10 thread and 1,50 mm…
